Wedding Ceremony Music

NY 1 Minute has recently added solo violin/viola wedding ceremony music to it’s wedding package starring Catherine Wynder. String duo, trio, or quartet is also offered for larger weddings. The rates for providing wedding ceremony music is very affordable and negotiable.

Catherine Wynder, violist, has been playing wedding ceremony music as well as cocktail hours since she was fourteen years old, and since then she has performed in world class venues such as the Stern Auditorium and Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall, as well as the Museum of Natural History, and she has performed with over thirty different chamber ensembles, including the American String Quartet and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra. She has given many community performances and raised charity funds for organizations such as World Vision, A.G. Rhodes Health & Rehab nursing home, Columbia Hospital, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, and Price of Life, NYC among others.

Mrs. Wynder initially gained her musical inspiration through her family and has been performing since a young age. Her family provided her countless opportunities to perform, to participate in event planning, and to experiment with new music and arranging. She grew up participating in her mother’s studio recitals at home and performing for churches and local community events. Catherine now performs as a free-lance violist, providing wedding ceremony music, proposals, elopements, cocktail parties, religious celebrations, and also performs in apartment homes around Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, and Long Island. She has made countless transcriptions for solo viola and various ensembles which have been used for wedding ceremony music.

As an educator, Catherine has been teaching violin and viola in New York City since 2009. During her studies at the Manhattan School of Music, she studied with a variety of teachers: Burton Kaplan, Patinka Kopec, Lawrence Dutton, Karen Dreyfus, Pinchas Zukerman, to name a few. Her teaching style is influenced by each of these masters which includes the Suzuki and Galamian methods. Every student demands for a different approach to teaching, and Catherine is sensitive and flexible with each of the different personalities and strengths she finds in her students. She believes in recognizing where each student is strong and focuses on positive reinforcement.

Catherine resides in Brooklyn, New York with her husband, Lawrence Wynder. They established their home in Bedford-Stuyvesant as a business location for lessons, classes and recitals: “Bed-Stuy Music”.

In September, 2015, Catherine began working with Goran Veljic in providing violin and viola for his wedding ceremony music elopement package in Central Park, New York City. Weddings have been among her favorite events to play for, and working with Goran has positively extended her experience in the wedding industry. Being a part of the most special day for a newly wed couple is something she takes seriously since she herself is a devout wife and understands the sensitivity of emotion that happens during the events of a wedding ceremony. Some of the most popular songs requests for wedding ceremony music is “Cannon in D”, “All of Me”, and “My Heart Will Go On”. The Cello Suites and Violin Sonatas and Partitas by J. S. Bach are also frequently played. Catherine is known to use improvisation to compliment certain un-planned for moments when music is needed.

Ny1minute is now offering a violin/viola as an addition to the wedding ceremony music elopement package featuring Catherine Wynder. She has performed for various weddings and elopements successfully with wedding officiant Goran Veljic, and has enjoyed meeting his team which includes elopement photographers. Goran has a vast knowledge of beautiful venues and locations to hold the wedding ceremony, including the Ladies’ Pavilion and Gapstow Bridge in Central Park where many couples have happily married. Feel free to view Catherine’s website and contact her directly with any questions regarding wedding ceremony music for your ny 1 minute wedding ceremony: cwynder.parsonsmusic.org/press.
